This is the year of NO! As a natural people pleaser, I've decided that this year, I'll be saying "no" a lot more often.
I remember a time in high school when a female German exchange student took a liking to me. I wasn't particularly fond of her, and one day, she just wouldn't leave me alone. I must have told her "no" at least a dozen times, but she kept coming after me! She even chased me through the hallway, and I remember hiding behind the curtain in the cafeteria at Mayde Creek High School in Katy Texas.
My point is, be strong when the wrong things come after you—your time, your energy, your peace of mind. Sometimes, you'll need to flee!
My prayer for you is that when you run from the wrong things, you'll find the right things waiting for you. Genesis 39:11 tells the story of Joseph fleeing from Potiphar's wife. Joseph, my dawg, I know how you feel man. This passage eerily mirrors my experience. Here's what happened: Joseph was working alone in the house when she grabbed him, saying, "Lie with me." He left his garment in her hand and ran outside. Unfortunately, she tried to grab him again, but only managed to catch a piece of his clothing as he made a quick escape. Joseph was being responsible in his position, but his reward for doing the right thing was being thrown into prison by Potiphar's wife, who lied about him. In the end, Joseph was redeemed, became second in command, and his family, who had once cast him aside, came to bow down to him. He had to be strong when the wrong thing came after him.
Be strong and say NO in 2025. It will be tough, but it will be worth it!
